Neighbour Complaints

We aim to deal with neighbour complaints in a sympathetic, fair and confidential manner. Our staff will firstly encourage residents to resolve their issues themselves without the formal involvement of the Association. If you feel you have a complaint which you wish the Association to deal with you should contact your Sustainment Housing Officer without delay.

It is essential that you telephone the Police at the time of the incident remembering to take a note of the time and date as we can ask for a Police Report. This information can be helpful in confirming your complaint. You may also wish to contact the Renfrewshire Council’s Help Line number 0800 169 1283 who will give you advice about what services to contact and will notify the Association of your contact. You also may wish to contact the Renfrewshire Council’s Warden Service which operates in all of our areas Telephone number - 0300 3000 380 for various services.

 On receiving a complaint

When a complaint is received the Association staff will investigate the complaint in accordance with our policy & procedures. The outcome of the investigation may result in the following:-

  1. No action being taken if the complaint is found to be unsubstantiated
  2. Referral for a mediation assessment if appropriate
  3. Issue verbal warnings and monitor the situation
  4. Issue written warnings
  5. Refer to the Youth Officer within Renfrewshire Council’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP)
  6. Refer to the Noise Enforcement Officer within CSP
  7. Refer to another outside agency e.g. the Dog Warden
  8. Refer to the CSP team to investigate the complaint further with a view to taking court action where necessary
  9. Instruct start of legal action

We will acknowledge and keep you updated on your complaint. Any tenant who is unhappy with the way in which the Association has dealt with a complaint may raise a complaint under the Association’s Complaints Procedure.

Permission to keep a pet

The Association’s Tenancy Agreement states that a tenant must seek permission to have a pet and where permission is granted the tenant is responsible for ensuring the pet does not cause nuisance to neighbours.

You must always check with the Association and obtain permission, BEFORE you bring a dog into your home. The Association does not allow dogs within our high rise property.  If you would like to request permission to keep a pet, click here, complete and return the form.

Any complaints made regarding nuisance caused by a pet will be dealt within the same way as other nuisance complaints. The outcome may be that you are required to rehome your pet.

Home Contents Insurance

Our tenants can obtain home contents insurance at a price that is affordable. While many people often hope that nothing will happen to their belongings, sometimes things can go wrong unexpectedly. With a special scheme arranged and administered by Thistle Tenant Risks, Paisley Housing Association  tenants can protect their belongings and gain peace of mind knowing if the unexpected happens they have cover.
