Applying for a Home

Dunbritton Housing Association are a partner of the Home Argyll Common Housing Register. Please see additional information on Home Argyll below.

As part of the Common Housing Register if you are applying for housing in Argyll and Bute you only need to fill in one application form, on line, to be considered for housing with a number of different landlords.

In West Dunbartonshire your application will be considered only by Dunbritton for our properties in the West Dunbartonshire area.

Our housing application form is completed on line – when applying for a house you should log into www.homeargyll.co.ukand click “apply online” on the top right hand side of the page.

We know not everyone has access to the internet. There are a number of different ways you can go on line if you do not have internet access at home. You can apply for housing via your smart phone, and your local library offers internet access which can be pre booked to allow you to complete your form on line.

For those customers who require help to navigate the internet, we can help. Please contact our Customer Services Team on 01389 761486. We can arrange an office appointment for help with completing your form.

To complete the form you will be required to provide information and documentation, relating to your housing history, proof of identity and residence. We will advise you what to bring when you phone to make an appointment.

If your current housing circumstances are affecting your health, you should complete the “Health and Housing Need” section of the on-line application to allow consideration of your health needs in your priority for housing.

About Home Argyll

HOME Argyll is a common housing register, established in 2006. We operate this register in partnership with; Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA), Fyne Homes, and West Highland Housing Association. All Home Argyll partners operate the same Allocations Policy, which gives priority to those applications in the greatest housing need.

At Dunbritton we are committed to helping reduce homelessness in the communities where we have housing.

As part of our statutory responsibility to work with the local authorities of West Dunbartonshire and Argyll and Bute, we offer 50% of any houses that become available for let each year to the local authority.

This means that those households with the greatest housing need are given priority to be housed.

Other Housing Options

Dunbritton Housing Association also have Shared Ownership properties within Dumbarton and Alexandria.

Shared Ownership offers customers the opportunity to buy a part share of the property (between 25% and 75%) and then pay an affordable rent to the Association. There are certain criteria that you have to meet to be considered for shared ownership property.

To apply for shared ownership please complete our Home Argyll housing application, and tick the box next to the question “Would you be interested in receiving information about shared ownership properties?” We will then notify you if suitable properties become available for sale.

What happens to my application after I have applied for Housing?

Following completion of your on-line application, it will be passed to one of the HOME Argyll partners to assess.

You will be asked to provide certain supporting evidence and proof of identity to enable your application for housing to be processed. Please ensure that you provide any information requested or your application for re housing will be delayed.

We aim to process all applications and issue you with a letter detailing your points within 28 days. If you think your points are wrong or we have not taken account of your housing need you can contact us to discuss your application.
