With funding assistance from the Scottish Government, the Association carry out a range of medical adaptations for tenants. Work is requested through the Centre for Independent Living and is for residents who are elderly, infirm, have a disability or have a family member with a disability.

Funding may differ from year to year and the Association, also fund adaptions from its own resources.

All adaptation requests are made via Occupational Therapists at the Centre for Independent Living, using a CL1 form. Tenants requesting adaptations directly from the Association will be referred to the Centre for Independent Living.

Only certain adaptations can be carried out. Any that cannot be done may be due to the type of adaptation, the construction or the type of property in relation to future use of the property. The Association’s Special Needs Adaptations Policy has more details.

Where funding from the Scottish Government is less than is required, and where the Association is unable to meet further funding, all new requests will be put on a waiting list. The tenant and Centre for Indpendent Living will be notified in writing of this.

Once work is completed it will be subject to a post inspection and the OT will be informed, the results being noted in the Association’s medical adaptions register.

More information is available from the Centre for Independent Living (phone 01475 714350) or our Property Services team (phone 01475 783637, Option 1).
