HOUSING BENEFIT

Housing Benefit

Housing Benefit is a Government Scheme helping people meet the cost of their rent and is administered by the Local Authority. If you believe your rent is more than you can afford you may qualify for help.
The amount of assistance depends on;

• income (wages, pensions, benefits, etc)
• rent
• the number of people living in your house and whether they are dependant or not.

The Association will provide advice to tenants who would like to know more about Housing Benefit or who wish help in completing the application form. Alternatively, the Association can make a referral to our Welfare Rights service or give tenants the contact details of the Housing Benefit Section of the Local Council. The Association will maintain a supply of application forms in the office.
