Arklet is governed by a Board of up to 15 members.   The Board has overall responsibility for the work of the Association.


  • Iain Wallace, Chairman

  • John Houston

    John is a retired Chartered Surveyor and has worked in the building industry for 47 years.  For the final 20 years in housing building he was Managing Director of John Dickie Homes Ltd.   John has an in depth knowledge of management techniques, team building experience and the ability to interrogate management on procedures and risks.  Further experience includes Land purchase, development designs, building construction, sales and managing customer expectation.  John has assisted the association  of over the past 7 years. 

  • Ruth Steel

    Ruth has been a tenant of the association since 2000 and is currently the chair of our Tenants Forum.  Ruth is able to bring to the board a tenants perspective on decisions with an insider’s experience of service delivery.  Ruth has been instrumental in encouraging tenant participation throughout our housing developments and helps to organise our annual tenants’ conference each year.

  • Howard Dales

    Howard joined the board in September 2016 and has over 20 years experience working with housing associations in the role of finance manager and at management team level. He has a wide experience in preparing and reporting on Management Accounts, Annual Accounts, budgets, 5 year and 30 year financial projections and cash flow. In his spare time he is studying for an LLB (Hons) through the Open University.



  • Phillip Mendelsohn


    Philip has been involved in community activity for many years and in May 2016 was elected the first Chair of a new charity - Interfaith Glasgow.  He is a trustee of a small private charitable trust, a Board Member of Transport Focus (which represents transport users in Great Britain) and has previously served as the trustee of pension scheme.  Philip is a chartered civil engineer who has worked in both local government and consultancy.


  • Thomas Bauld

    Thomas is a tenant of the association and joined the Board in September 2016.  Thomas completed 30 year service as a Police Officer with Strathclyde Police when he retired in 2002 after which time he then joined Glasgow Housing Association to help set up a neighbour relations team(formed to tackle antisocial behaviour within the GHA housing stock).  He has a wide range of experience in relation to housing due to his later part of his career working for GHA from which he retired from in 2013. 

  • John McMorrow

    John joined the board on 2 November 2016 bringing with him over 30 years experience of housing within local authority and registered social landlords. He has been the Director of Easthall Park Housing Co-operative since 1992 where his role is to manage the business on behalf of the Management Committee and ensure the delivery of strategic objectives. This role involves strategy, governance and business development.

  • Daniel Clapham, Treasurer

    Daniel has previously worked in the finance departments for two different housing associations for a total of nine years. He was on the Executive of  the Glasgow Jewish Representative Councils for many years, latterly as their Vice-President. He currently runs his own independent accounting business servicing small and medium sized enterprises. Daniel has assisted the association since June 2015.

  • Stewart MacKenzie

    Stewart, who joined the board on 2 November 2016 is an experienced housing professional and business graduate, with a career spanning both strategic and operational roles in housing associations and local authority sectors across Scotland.  Stewart is currently Chief Executive and Company Secretary at Partick Housing Association and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing.
